Elephant Pepper Camp

Mara North Conservancy, Masai Mara ecosystem, Kenya

A small tented camp inside Mara North Conservancy, long known for its intimacy and genuinely knowledgeable guiding team.

Overview

Elephant Pepper Camp keeps to a small number of tents inside Mara North Conservancy, a longstanding property known among repeat Kenya travellers for the depth of its guiding team’s knowledge as much as for its setting.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Canvas tents set beneath acacia woodland, simply furnished with en-suite bathrooms and private verandas facing the conservancy’s open grassland.

Food & Service

Kenyan home-style cooking served communally, with the camp’s intimate scale encouraging genuine conversation between guests and guiding staff.

Activities

Game drives across Mara North’s grassland and woodland habitats, walking safaris, and seasonal access to migration crossing points.

Wildlife & Photography

The conservancy’s mix of open grassland and riverine woodland supports strong resident predator numbers, with elephant, giraffe and a wide range of plains game visible from camp itself.

A Photographer's Note

The camp’s acacia woodland setting offers a different visual texture from the open plains further south, useful for varying composition across a multi-day stay.

Conservation & Impact

The camp is a long-term financial partner in Mara North Conservancy’s land-lease model, one of the earliest and most studied examples of Kenya’s conservancy movement.
