Lake Bogoria Spa Resort

Lake Bogoria National Reserve, Kenya

A garden lodge beside Lake Bogoria’s geysers and hot springs, with the only naturally warm spa pools in Kenya.

Overview

Set at the entrance to Lake Bogoria National Reserve, Lake Bogoria Spa Resort combines straightforward safari lodging with direct access to the reserve’s geothermal hot springs and geysers, a rarity in East Africa. Its gardens and pools sit within view of the Siracho Escarpment, which rises steeply along the lake’s eastern shore.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

A mix of garden-facing standard rooms, cottages and suites.

Food & Service

Meals served overlooking the gardens, with the resort’s naturally heated spring pools available to guests throughout the stay.

Activities

Game drives around the reserve for its greater kudu and klipspringer populations, birdwatching along the lake’s flamingo-lined shore, and time at the resort’s geyser field and hot spring pools.

Wildlife & Photography

Lake Bogoria is best known among photographers for its concentrations of lesser flamingos, often numbering in the tens of thousands, set against the steam and mineral colours of the shoreline’s geysers.

A Photographer's Note

Early morning light on the geyser field, before the day’s heat sets in, is when the steam and flamingo activity are both at their most photogenic.

Conservation & Impact

Lake Bogoria National Reserve is a Ramsar wetland of international importance, and reserve fees support its ongoing protection.
