Jongomero Camp

Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

A remote Nomad Tanzania camp deep in Ruaha’s wilderness, among the most isolated luxury camps on the southern circuit.

Overview

Jongomero Camp sits far into Ruaha’s interior, beside a sand river in one of the most remote and least-visited corners of Tanzania’s largest national park, run by Nomad Tanzania with a deliberately small, personal footprint.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Spacious tented suites set along the riverbed, each with a private veranda and outdoor shower, furnished in an understated, natural style.

Food & Service

A strong, home-style dining programme served communally, drawing on the camp’s genuinely remote setting for a slower pace of hospitality.

Activities

Game drives and walking safaris across Ruaha’s rugged, baobab-studded terrain, one of Tanzania’s least crowded major parks.

Wildlife & Photography

Ruaha holds one of Tanzania’s largest lion populations and a significant number of African wild dog, alongside substantial elephant and greater and lesser kudu populations rarely seen on the northern circuit.

A Photographer's Note

Ruaha’s low visitor numbers mean predator sightings are frequently unshared with other vehicles, a genuine rarity on Tanzania’s more heavily visited northern parks.

Conservation & Impact

Nomad Tanzania’s Ruaha operations support the park’s wild dog research and monitoring programmes, a species in serious decline across much of its former range.
