Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge

Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

A spacious lodge on the park’s southern edge, favoured for its elevated cottages and reliable access to the rhino sanctuary below.

Overview

Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge occupies a quiet, elevated position at the park’s southern end, part of the well-regarded Sopa chain and a straightforward, comfortable base for exploring the lake and its surrounding rhino sanctuary.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Spacious cottage-style suites with sitting areas and private balconies, set among landscaped grounds overlooking the plains below.

Food & Service

Kenyan and international dishes served in an open dining room with wide views over the park, alongside a pool terrace for the middle of the day.

Activities

Game drives throughout Lake Nakuru National Park, with particular focus on the rhino sanctuary and the acacia woodland favoured by leopard.

Wildlife & Photography

Beyond its rhino population, Lake Nakuru’s acacia forest supports one of Kenya’s higher concentrations of leopard, along with buffalo and the reintroduced Rothschild’s giraffe.

A Photographer's Note

The park’s yellow-barked acacia woodland offers dappled, filtered light quite different from the open-plain glare found elsewhere in Kenya’s parks.

Conservation & Impact

The lodge contributes to Lake Nakuru’s rhino sanctuary funding and supports staff drawn from surrounding communities.
