Ranthambhore Regency

Set on Ranthambhore Road in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, roughly five minutes' drive from the national park's main gate, making it a convenient base for early safari drives.

Family-operated for years, with much of its staff having stayed on for two decades or more, giving return guests an unusually personal welcome.

Overview

Ranthambhore Regency sits on the edge of Sawai Madhopur, close enough to the park entrance to make early-morning safari departures easy. The 75-room property has been family-operated for years, and much of its staff has stayed on for two decades or more, giving return guests a level of familiarity that’s unusual for a hotel this size. Grounds include a pool, spa, and multiple dining and bar areas set around landscaped gardens.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Rooms are organized into three tiers – Super Deluxe, Deluxe, and Family Rooms – all air-conditioned with contemporary en-suite bathrooms, spread across 2.75 acres of gardens and poolside grounds.

Food & Service

The main restaurant serves a buffet spanning Indian, Chinese, and Continental dishes alongside Rajasthani specialties, with bread cooked to order in an open tandoor. The Fuchsia Bar doubles as a lounge and library, and a separate poolside bar serves drinks through the day.

Activities

Naturalist-led jeep and canter safaris into Ranthambhore National Park are the main draw, but the property also arranges excursions to the Ranthambhore Fort ruins, birdwatching at nearby Surwal Lake (best November-March), a crocodile and gharial sanctuary on the Chambal River, village visits, and evening stargazing sessions.

Wildlife & Photography

A Photographer's Note

The Ranthambhore Fort excursion is worth building into a shoot list on its own – tigers are regularly seen moving through the fort’s ruins, giving photographers a rare combination of wildlife and centuries-old architecture in a single frame.

Conservation & Impact

As a long-standing, family-owned property, Ranthambhore Regency employs a large local staff, with many team members having worked at the hotel for twenty years or more – a meaningful source of stable local employment in Sawai Madhopur.
