Soroi Luxury Migration Camp

Olare Orok River, Maasai Mara, Kenya

Ten glass-fronted tents strung along the seasonal Olare Orok River in the Maasai Mara, built specifically around access to the wildebeest migration’s river crossings.

Overview

Soroi Luxury Migration Camp stretches along the seasonal Olare Orok River, its ten tents elevated on platforms with floor-to-ceiling glass fronts looking straight onto the water and a resident hippo pool. As its name suggests, this is the Soroi property built specifically around proximity to the migration’s river crossings.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Ten tents in total: eight river-facing luxury tents with four-poster beds, en-suite bathrooms and private verandas, and two two-bedroom family units, all raised above the ground with glass panels opening onto the river.

Food & Service

Meals run from communal breakfasts to four-course candlelit bush dinners, served in an al-fresco dining area or by the campfire, with a photographic lounge doubling as a gathering point between game drives.

Activities

Game drives, guided bush walks, Maasai village visits, and hot air ballooning with a champagne breakfast on landing are all on offer, alongside the camp’s core draw of proximity to the Mara River crossings during migration season.

Wildlife & Photography

Hippos and crocodiles are regularly visible from camp, with giraffe and cheetah spotted nearby, and the camp’s position on the Olare Orok River puts it within range of the Mara River crossings between roughly July and October.

A Photographer's Note

The elevated, glass-fronted tents and adjoining photographic lounge are built with photographers in mind, and the camp’s Nikon rental studio and in-house photographer support guests without their own long lenses.

Conservation & Impact

The camp holds a Gold Eco Rating for its solar power and waste management, and works with the NGO Community, Wildlife & Conservation on education, healthcare, and livelihood initiatives for the surrounding Maasai Mara communities.
