Soroi Private Wing

Maasai Mara, Kenya

Twelve tents built around a resident hippo pool and its own Hippo Bar, run as the more secluded, privacy-focused sister camp to Soroi Mara Bush Camp in the Maasai Mara.

Overview

Soroi Private Wing shares its stretch of the Maasai Mara with its sister property, Soroi Mara Bush Camp, but is run as the more secluded of the two, built around a resident hippo pool that guests can watch from the camp’s own Hippo Bar. Its twelve tents are split between river-facing and forest-facing positions, each fitted with mahogany furniture and locally sourced textiles.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

Twelve tents in total: six river-facing luxury tents with a king and a single bed and an extended veranda, four forest-facing luxury tents of the same layout, and two river-facing family tents sleeping up to four, all with en-suite bathrooms, a mini-fridge, and a fan.

Food & Service

Dining runs from communal meals by the campfire to four-course bush dinners under lantern light, with a stocked mini-bar in every tent and dietary requirements accommodated throughout.

Activities

Game drives in custom 4×4 vehicles, hot air ballooning with a champagne breakfast on landing, guided visits to a Maasai village, and private sundowners are run from the camp’s own activity schedule.

Wildlife & Photography

The hippo pool directly in front of camp is a near-constant wildlife draw, while the camp’s position in the Maasai Mara puts guests within range of the same big cat and migration territory as its sister camp.

A Photographer's Note

The Hippo Bar and riverside tents give a low, close vantage on the pool’s residents at eye level, a useful complement to the wider landscape and game-drive shots taken further out on the plains.

Conservation & Impact

Soroi Private Wing runs on solar power with responsible waste management and locally sourced supplies, and partners with the NGO Community, Wildlife & Conservation on education, healthcare, and job programmes for nearby Maasai communities.
