Tarkuni, Tswalu Kalahari

Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, Northern Cape, South Africa

Tswalu Kalahari’s exclusive-use homestead, available as a private house for families and small groups.

Overview

Tarkuni is Tswalu Kalahari’s original homestead, now offered as an exclusive-use private house within the reserve, giving families and small groups a fully private base with dedicated staff and vehicles.

Rooms & Table

The Rooms

A private homestead with multiple bedrooms, a dedicated pool, and its own staff, designed for full exclusive use by a single group.

Food & Service

Private chef-prepared dining tailored entirely to the group’s preferences and schedule, unconstrained by a shared lodge timetable.

Activities

Private game drives and walking safaris across Tswalu’s reserve, with full flexibility over timing and focus given the exclusive-use arrangement.

Wildlife & Photography

As with the rest of Tswalu, guests have access to the reserve’s desert-adapted black-maned lion, meerkat, and rare species tracking programmes.

A Photographer's Note

The private-house arrangement allows a group to structure an entire stay around specific photographic goals, such as extended pangolin or aardvark tracking sessions.

Conservation & Impact

Tarkuni’s exclusive-use model supports the same Oppenheimer family conservation programme underpinning the whole Tswalu reserve.
